Individuals suffering from drug problems and alcoholism are often in denial of their predicament. Most of these addicted individuals do not submit themselves to rehabilitation centers where they can have full access to the kind of treatment they require. As a result, these individuals tend to suffer more from their addiction.

Be conscious of each of your family member. Take time to notice changes in behavior, lifestyles, friends and hobbies. If you suspect that a family member is at the verge of losing self to addiction, take the initiative to conduct family intervention.

Family intervention is an effective approach to stop loved ones from any self-destructive behavior and practice such as addiction. This process is especially helpful when addicted individuals continue to be in denial of their problems and when they refuse to accept the help that is offered them.

Basically, family intervention is used to cut self-destructive practices such as alcoholism and substance abuse. It is also proven effective in treating eating disorders such as anorexia and bulimia.

Family intervention is conducted in such a way that love and respect for the addicted individual is manifested despite the shortcomings of the drug or alcohol addict. It is said to be a non-confrontational, non-judgmental approach which can effectively encourage drug alcohol addicts to seek professional help from rehab centers.

reikiThe term Reiki comes from two Japanese words- Rei meaning “God’s Wisdom or the Higher Power” and Ki which means “life force energy”. It is a technique that reduces stress and promotes healing and relaxation. The whole process is administered by the “laying of hands” as part of the application of the universal life force energy. Reiki healing is considered as one holistic therapy since it involves physical, emotional, mental and spiritual levels. The teaching claims that the inexhaustible universal spiritual energy can provide a healing effect. Once the hands of the practitioner are placed on the recipient, energy will flow through and the healing process can then take place.

During treatment, practitioners may use a fixed hand position or various positions depending on the kind of treatment being initiated. In a typical procedure which involves the whole body, 12 to 20 positions are applied and it usually lasts for about 45 to 90 minutes. Before moving to another position, the hands are kept still for 3 to 5 minutes. In a series of more than 3 treatments, a usual 1 to 7 days interval is observed especially in addressing patients with chronic disorders. Some practitioners may consider their intuition as a guide as to where the treatment is much needed. They usually take some time to enter a meditative state to become mentally prepared for the treatment. Unnecessary talking is avoided.

There are plenty of beneficial effects that Reiki healing brings. Many have already reported about miraculous results. Though it is spiritual in nature, it is not considered as a religion. The system of healing starts from within and there is a need to be in harmony with others. This whole process on the other hand is not dependent on certain beliefs and will work whether you believe in it or not.

Success of any addiction treatment and rehabilitation programs depends on several factors that include the family. We all know that it’s hard to treat such people with addiction especially if you can’t control them anymore. Addiction treatment should basically start with addiction treatment services like family intervention. Drug and alcohol addiction affects not only the individual who is into dependent to alcohol and substances. It also affects the family and even the society where he belongs.

An alcoholic or drug addict parent is likely to create unhealthy relationships with his/her significant other and children. As a result, the family becomes dysfunctional. With the case of child or children who have drug or alcohol addiction problems, parents and other family members as well play very important roles.

Persons with addiction problems do not see the problem within themselves because they deny the fact that they’re already addicted to substance abuse. They need somebody to help them come to their senses and realize the existence of addiction that they need to seek addiction treatment services such as drug addiction counseling from health professionals. This can possibly happen through effective family intervention and the use of family treatment program.

Family members play a pivotal role in almost all drug alcohol treatment programs. Alcoholics and drug addicts are easily motivated and encouraged to go through drug addiction counseling and to ultimately enter addiction rehabilitation center when they have the love and unwavering support of their families.

Scientists still do not get how the swine influenza has come to affect humans. Five U.S states have reported that swine flue is present in their states. Almost 40 cases are reported but only one case led to hospitalization according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta. The states that are hit by the swine flue outbreak were New York, Texas, Kansas, Ohio and California.

But in Mexico, where the outbreak started, hundreds were reportedly ill and 149 of them have died with the same strain of virus that hit the United States. Reports also emerge telling that the outbreak has reached other countries like Britain, Canada, New Zealand and France. Scientists now know what the virus’s main component is and found out that this kind of influenza strain contains genetic materials from swine, bird and human influenza. But it still remains a mystery how lethal the combination of these three does to people.

An epidemiologist in Atlanta says that until the biological properties of this influenza strain is understood, it is better for the people to refrain from going to Mexico where the outbreak started. Some officials also told the public to limit interpersonal contact, close schools in affected areas, canceling all social events and subjecting the people who have been exposed to the virus to quarantine is necessary.

Scientists are hoping that the timing of the influenza outbreak will limit the impact and they also said that as of now, no existing vaccine is found to be effective against this kind of strain. They believe that the outbreak will continue but they are positive that they can find a cure for this disease in time.

Carbonated drinks, such as energy drinks, soda and cola, are popular beverages especially during hot weathers. These beverages are very popular among young and old alike. According to reports, companies annually produce enough soda to provide every man, woman or child with 557 12-ounce cans or 52.4 gallons for drinking. Can you imagine how much these companies produce in the whole time they’ve been operating?

Carbonated drinks, such as soda and cola, are said to be the single biggest source of calories in the American diet. These drinks provide 7 percent of calories. Carbonated drinks add large amounts of sugar, mostly high-fructose corn syrup, to many individual’s diet. This amount of sugar it gives is said to roughly equal the government’s recommended limits for teen sugar consumption from practically all food sources.

A study conducted by Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska strongly reveals that people lost measurable amounts of calcium after drinking caffeinated sodas. It is backed up by another study performed by researchers at Tufts University in Boston, which suggests that people drinking diet or regular cola at least three times a week over a period of five years, have significantly lowered bone densities than those who sip cola once month or less. It is apparently brought on by phosphoric acid, an element unique to caffeinated drinks and colas.

Carbonated drinks may be refreshing, but as research findings show, they are not healthy at all. In fact, these drinks are likely to start or contribute to health problems more than they can prevent them. Colas and sodas can trigger weight problems and obesity, as well as comorbid diseases like type 2 diabetes, heart attacks, strokes, and cancer. Soda drinks are also known to increase risks of osteoporosis, tooth decay (due to sugars) and dental erosion (due to acids).Furthermore; they can also increase the risks of kidney stones.

Alphabiotics

Ever heard of alphabiotics? I was browsing old copies of Bato Balani this morning when I chanced upon a short discussion on this term. Apparently, the discussion does not tell what alphabiotics really is; hence this quick online research about the subject.

Alphabiotics is an alternative in medical practice that is based on the notion that all diseases are a result of an imbalance and lack of life energy. This breakthrough discovery in the evolution of consciousness has been in existence since the early 1920’s when Dr. Virgil B. Chrane first practiced it in Abilene, Texas. Alphabiotics was officially introduced by Dr. Virgil B. Chrane, Jr. and his son Michael as a profession in December 1971.

Alphabiotics is regarded by many as a potential solution to the chronic stress that characterizes much of everyday life. Believers in this practice claim that alphabiotics give access to levels of wellness, transformation, joy and creativity without enduring pain. This is because alphabiotics generally involve gentle physical movements particularly in the neck areas. Researches suggest that alphabiotics is generally pleasant, even babies and the elderly would not even feel pain in the process.

Unlike traditional medicine that focuses on the treatment of the physical aspect, alphabiotics recognizes the intervention of the Great Intellect and the need for deep spiritual connection.

Possible questions can be applied to all conditions like infertility treatment, ovarian cysts or fibroids removal, hysterectomy, D&C, tubal ligation, birth control, or other gynecological procedure. But some other questions need exact details to the procedure or condition.

There are websites provide checklists online and it is essential to look for each questions before approving to any gynecologic surgery. If this is your first appointment to your gynecologist, the knowledge gained from the checklist will make your visit more relaxed and productive. Bring with you your list of questions and don’t leave the room without answers that make sense to you.
