If you are experiencing sleep disturbances, trouble in concentrating, muscle tension or headache, chances are you are having difficulty in dealing with stress. These are some common somatic signs and symptoms of a poorly managed stress. However, different symptoms may occur depending on the severity the kind of stress that a person experiences. Before it turns out to something serious such as depression, it is better that you work out on simple stress management techniques.

First, you must interact with people who can help you stimulate your feelings of joy within in order to minimize your stress level. Acknowledge the negative feeling but never allow it to eat up your energy.

Second, indulge in activities that you enjoy doing. One of the best ways to combat stress is to use your energy in doing physical activities such as sports and the like. The more activities you do, the less time you have for thinking about the things that might have caused your stress. Once you already found a suitable activity that you enjoy, maintain the routine. It is a good thing that you consider an outlet for your stress.

Third, take some time to think about things. Most of the time, it is helpful to organize your thoughts and put it in perspective. This will help you decipher the issues and get a grip of what you are going through. Once you regain control, stress can then be minimized.

Lastly, consider writing on a journal. Before going to bed, writing about the things that you have accomplished during the day helps a lot. Focus on the positive results and harness the power of the subconscious mind during sleep.

Later on, after going through the simple stress management, you will be able to improve your perspective in life as well as your attitude about yourself. All of the negative feelings will somehow fade away.
